Our concert features Romantic masterworks from four of the most influential composers of the nineteenth and early twentieth century. At the heart of the concert is the glorious Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor, performed by the internationally acclaimed pianist Nicola Meecham. Also on the programme is Walk to the Paradise Garden by Frederick Delius, a masterpiece in orchestration, with its intense outpouring of the deepest emotion. Mahler’s Adagietto from his Symphony No. 5 will be performed - one of his best loved pieces of music. The concert concludes with the emotionally powerful Symphony No. 4 of Brahms, often called the tragic symphony for its intensely passionate and at times darkly dramatic moods.
