Orchestra Calendar of Rehearsal and Concert Dates

Block 1 - 20th Sept and 4th Oct - Classical: 

  • Mendelssohn Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave)

  • Mozart Symphony no. 38

  • Beethoven Symphony no. 3 -1st movement only

Block 2 - 18th Oct and 1st Nov - Eastern European

  • Dvorak "Goblin" tone poem

  • Glinka Kanarinskaya OVerture

  • Borodin Steppes of Central Asia

 

Block 3 - 15th & 29th Nov and 13th Dec - TBC

  • Tchaikovsky Symphony no 1 extracts

  • Prokofiev Winter Dreams OR Nutcracker extracts

  • ET / Jurassic Park



Autumn 2021 Rehearsals

Bring to the rehearsal:

  • A music stand

  • Your music

  • Your own refreshments

  • Your instrument - with reeds, rosin, valve oil etc etc – dig it all out from the cupboard!

  • Brass and woodwind players – please bring a suitable receptacle to collect water, and a towel or mat for it to sit on.

 

Travel:

  • Please use your own transport as far as possible.

  • If car sharing, follow government guidance of masks and ventilation.

  • If possible, players to avoid public transport. If you have to travel on public transport, follow government/transport guidance of mask wearing (unless exempt).

 

On arrival:

  • Wear a mask (unless you are exempt from mask wearing)

  • Sanitise your hands (sanitiser will be provided)

  • Mark your presence in the register

  • Scan the THURC QR code (voluntary)

  • Maintain social distancing from other players

 

During rehearsal:

  • Wear a mask when out of your seats (unless you are exempt from mask wearing).

  • Maintain social distancing from other players

  • Minimise mingling and moving around

  • Play from your own stand, rather than sharing

  • Don’t share any equipment

  • Minimise use of the toilets

  • Avoid moving your chair unless absolutely necessary for musical purposes (the seats will have been arranged carefully according to a seating plan).

 

At the end of rehearsal and on departure:

  • Wear a mask (unless you are exempt from mask wearing)

  • Maintain social distancing from other players

  • Leave your seat where it is unless you are one of the nominated volunteers who will be wiping the seats down and putting them back.

  • Brass and woodwind players – please ensure the floor is clean where any water could have dripped.
